Self-Exam Tips
* Women under 40 should
check their breasts for lumps
once a month in order to
detect breast cancer as early
as possible. Self-check exams
can be done in the shower or
while lying down in bed.
* Women over 40 should also
perform these exams, but are
advised to also get regular
mammograms as well.
1. Check breasts in mirror
for visual lumps.
2. To check breasts lying
down, lie on opposite side of
the breast you are checking,
one arm over your head
3. Or, check in the shower,
pay attention to your upper
breasts, where most cancers
occur.
4. Using the pads of your
fingers, make dime-size circles,
following the pattern shown
